ALUM CLAYTON KERSHAW
WINS 2011 NL CY YOUNG AWARD !

11/17/11 - Alum Clayton Kershaw has won the 2011 National League Cy Young Award. A 2011 All-Star, Kershaw won the NL's Triple Crown for pitchers, leading the league with 21 wins, a 2.28 ERA and 248 strikeouts. Kershaw also was among the league leaders in opponents' batting average, innings pitched, complete games, shutouts and WHIP.

Clayton, 21-5 overall, was earlier this month named winner of a Gold Glove (he led the league with nine pickoffs), the first Dodger to win a Cy Young and Gold Glove in the same year since Orel Hershiser in 1988. Kershaw won the Warren Spahn Award as the best left-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball, won a Players Choice Award for outstanding pitcher in the NL, was named to The Sporting News NL All-Star team, was a finalist for the Roberto Clemente Award and was named Dodgers Pitcher of the Year by MLB.com. Kershaw (23) began his third full season in the Major Leagues as the Opening Day starter and ended it by becoming the youngest 20-game winner in the Major Leagues since 20-year-old Dwight Gooden of the Mets in 1985.

Roy Halladay (Phil) and Cliff Lee (Phil) finished second and third in the Cy Young voting while another former Dallas Knight, Yovanni Gallardo (Milwaukee), finished seventh.

7/18/11 - The Dallas Knights finished in third place at the 2011 YTS 9U World Series to conclude their 2011 season with an overall record of 39-17-1. From off-season workouts at Frozen Ropes....to a double header start of the season at the Texas Rangers Youth Ballpark on a freezing cold night in March....to having to win three World Series games on a scorching hot Saturday in July, this season was about the boys learning the game of baseball and having a lot of fun. Special thanks to Coach Junior, Coach Byron, Coach Chris and Team Mom Kimbre for without you we couldn't make all of this possible. Take a break from baseball, enjoy the rest of your summer and then we'll hit the field again in the fall!

World Series pictures can be seen on the DK Facebook Page.

KNIGHTS WIN! KNIGHTS WIN!

6/24/11 - The Dallas Knights celebrated amid a shower of silly string on Friday night after they beat the Sachse Mustangs 10U by a score of 10-4 to be crowned as the champions of the NEC 10U Post-Season Tournament. Trailing 4-1 after 2 1/2 innings, Flash Gordon took the mound in relief and shut the Mustangs down for the remainder of the game as a 6-run third inning allowed the Knights to take control and a 2-run fourth put the game away for good. The Knights entered the tournament as the #1 seed and downed the #4 seed Rockwall Rangers 17-1 on Thursday to get to the title game. Great team effort by the boys in pounding out 13 hits against Sachse and 11 hits against Rockwall. Tonight's victory improved the Knights overall record to 30-13-1 as they went 15-1 on the year in NEC play while winning both the NEC regular season title and the NEC post-season tournament title. The 2011 NEC schedule can be seen here.

NEC 10U CHAMPIONS !!!

6/08/11 - The Dallas Knights turned a 2-3-2 double play to end Wednesday night's Northeast Classic league game as they beat the 10U Greenville Majors 7-6 to be crowned NEC 10U Champs. Leading 7-6 with one out and an oppenent on third base, C-Dawg struck out the Greenville batter with a fastball in the dirt....the batter ran for first base and Pudge fired down to get the out and Flash quickly returned the throw in time to nail the potential game-tying run and end the game. Cadillac pitched three solid innings to earn the win and C-Dawg got the save in relief of Big Cat. In the top of the last inning Flash Gordon crushed a three-run bomb to dead center field that ended up being the deciding factor. The only 9U team in this 10U league, the victory gave the Knights (12-1) the NEC 10U division title with one game still left to play. Way to go boys!

6/08/11 - The Dallas Knights will play this weekend in the YTS 9U TX/OK Super State at Oak Grove Park in Grapevine. Saturday's pool games are 2pm vs Oklahoma Thunder and 6pm vs Lubbock Raiders. Tournament schedule and info can be found here.

6/07/11 - More kudos for Dallas Knights Alum and Texas A&M Aggie Nick Fleece as he had quite a day today. First, he got the win as A&M defeated Arizona in the NCAA Regional at College Station to advance on to the Super Regional and then a couple of hours later he was selected in the 13th round of the MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds. Proud of you Nick!

Dallas Knights Alumni selected in the 2011 MLB Draft:

Nick Fleece (Texas A&M).... 13th round / Cincinnati Reds
Brent Powers (Sam Houston State).... 18th round / Oakland A's
Nick Popescu (Texas Tech).... 33rd round / Atlanta Braves
Zach Fowler (Texas Tech).... 34th round / Kansas City Royals
Stayton Thomas (Texas).... 43rd round / Tampa Bay Rays

6/01/11 - The Knights improved to 11-1 in NEC league play Wednesday night behind four solid innings on the mound by Flash, good offensive execution and a no-doubt-about-it bomb by The Big Cat as they cruised to an 11-5 win over the Sachse Mustangs 10U. In avenging their only loss of the season, the Knights put themselves in a position to win the league next Wednesday with a win over the second place Greenville Majors. Not too shabby for the only 9U team in a 10U league!

5/29/11 - Congratulations to alum Nick Fleece for pitching the Texas A&M Aggies to a 10-9 win over Missouri in the Big XII Baseball Championship game today. Nick pitched the final 2 2/3 innings to earn the win as the Aggies downed the Tigers in 10 innings and he improved his record to 6-1.

5/29/11 - The Dallas Knights played over Memorial Day weekend in the Triple Crown 9U North Texas Shootout @ Wagon Wheel Park in Coppell. The Knights went 3-0 in pool play to earn the #1 seed with wins over the Dbat Mustangs (12-5), Dallas Patriots (11-3) & Frisco Riders (6-5). The win over the Riders was on a 2-run walk-off single by C-Dawg but the magic couldn't be repeated in bracket play as the Knights fell to the Colleyville Cougars 4-5, leaving the bases loaded on the final out as their last inning rally fell just short. The Knights continue to play well as they are 15-4 in their last 19 games with all four losses coming by one run and have an overall record of 22-9-1.

5/25/11 - Wednesday's game against the Texas Sports 10U has been canceled and rescheduled for 7PM on Thursday @ Rick Oden Park.

As the #2 seed on Sunday, they again played the Longhorns and were down 6-2 before rallying late to tie the score at 6-6 and force an extra inning. Down 7-6 in the extra frame, Mad Dog came through with a one-out, bases loaded single to win it 8-7. In the championship game the Knights ran into a buzzsaw of a pitcher as they fell to the Storm 10-0.

Offensively, Freight Train led the weekend's long ball brigade with three homeruns, including a grand slam against the Canes, while Big Cat homered twice and Cadillac & Rhino each left the yard once apiece. 1/02/10 - The 2010 Dallas Knights started the new year off by attending the Baylor University Hitting Clinic at Frozen Ropes in McKinney on Saturday, January 2nd. Baylor Coach Mitch Thompson and the FR staff provided quality hitting instruction to the Knights and other ballplayers that attended the three-hour clinic. The boys looked sharp in their new Knights hoodies!

11/08/09 - The Knights won the 8U Super Series Winter National Qualifier Tournament held over the weekend in Cleburne, TX. To say the boys had an offensive explosion would be an understatement as they lived up to their mantra of "No Yard Too Big!" by belting 17 homeruns out of the ballpark and scoring 68 runs in five games. Big Cat led the fireworks display with 8 bombs as Cadillac, Flash and Freight Train each had three dingers apiece. The Knights went 5-0 to win the tournament and had a blast doing it. Way to go Knights!

11/04/09 - The Dallas Knights 8U completed their fall league season on Wednesday night with an 18-2 win over the 9U Texas Thunder. Playing up in MBI's 9U kid pitch league, the Knights went 10-1 on the season while averaging 14 runs scored to just 4 against as they finished in second place out of ten teams. While the late weeknight games tended to be a little long it was a fun experience for the boys as they got to play some real baseball this fall. Pitching, catching, stealing bases....good times!

10/29/09 - In their first kid pitch league game in two weeks the Knights picked back up where they had left off as they defeated the 9U Comets 13-4. Jordo got the win by going the distance while striking out six.

10/25/09 - The Dallas Knights 8U showed well in finishing in second place in the 14-team, 8U Tara Sawyer Classic held in Desoto. In Sunday's bracket play the Knights defeated the Dbat Mustangs (12-4), Texas Eliminators (15-2) and the Dallas Patriots (14-1) before falling to the Irving Canes 8U by a score of 2-1 in the championship game. Good job Knights!

10/14/09 - Alum Clayton Kershaw will start for the Dodgers on Thursday, October 15 against fellow left-hander Cole Hamels of the Phillies in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series. At 21 years and 209 days, Kershaw will be the youngest Game 1 starter for a League Championship Series in MLB history. Good luck Kersh!

9/29/09 - The Knights won 18-5 over the 9U Bulldogz on Tuesday as the pitching staff chipped in their third straight no-hitter thanks in large part to a great 9-6 force out by Jordo on a ball hit to right field. Big Cheese, Spark, Rhino and Mad Dog combined to strike out eight.

9/25/09 - On Friday night the Knights downed the 9U Padres 18-1 in three innings to improve their fall record to 2-0. Flash, Freight Train and Mad Dog combined to toss a no-hitter as they recorded nine outs on eight strikeouts and a pop out. Freight Train also added two big hits to lead the offense.

9/24/09 - The Knights defeated the 9U Dodgers on Thursday night by a score of 18-3 behind solid pitching, good base running and timely hitting. The three Knights' pitchers combined on a three-inning no-hitter as Big Cat struck out three, Cadillac struck out three and Peanut struck out two and induced a ground out to end the game. Way to go Knights!

9/21/09 - Our attempt at the first 9U kid pitch game was suspended due to lightning after one completed inning with the Knights ahead of the Rockets 6-0. We would have liked to have played it out but after weeks of rain....we'll take what we can get! Jordo started on the hill for the Knights and struck out three of the four batters he faced. In the bottom of the inning the Knights scored the maximum six runs before the game was halted. This game will be resumed on 9/30/09.

7/24/09 - The Dallas Knights came up a run short in a hard fought 6-5 loss to the Houston Avengers on Friday night to finish in 4th place at the Super Series 7U World Series. From pin trading, opening ceremonies, the skills competitions, being a part of the pre-game ceremonies at the Ranger/Red Sox game and having Tom Grieve say on the air that of the 56 teams in the parade he loved the Dallas Knights because of all of the nicknames.....to spending a full week at the ballpark playing against incredible competition that came from as far away as California, Corpus Christi, El Paso and Houston.....what an absolutely unforgettable experience for our young ballplayers! Congratulations to Knights OF Preston Aymond for being selected to the SSWS 7U All-Tournament Team and to the Corpus Christi Biscuits for bringing home the title.

7/12/09 - A heartfelt thanks to everyone that volunteered or attended our Applebee's Flapjack Fundraiser on Saturday. We are so very grateful for the outpouring of support that the Dallas Knights have received this year through fundraising and sponsorship. With the high cost of uniforms, equipment, league, tournaments and our World Series experience....it's incredible that we were able to keep our player fees to only $350.
THANK YOU!

6/28/09 - The boys got off to a great start Saturday in the scorching heat in the Triple Crown 7U State Tournament @ The Parks at Texas Star in Euless. Pool play wins against the Dallas Patriots (16-9) and Grapevine Gators (14-2) earned the Knights the #2 seed out of nine teams heading into Sunday's bracket play. On Sunday the Knights again beat the Gators (14-1) and then downed the Dbat Mustangs (15-0) to reach the championship game where they fell 10-2 to the Colleyville Cougars. A solid showing all the way around for the Triple Crown State runners-up as they continue to excel on defense and at the plate. Highlighting a weekend of outstanding offense for the Knights were over-the-fence bombs by Freight Train, Big Cat and Flash Gordon.

No Yard Too Big!

6/22/09 - Good showing by the Knights this past weekend against strong competition in the NEO USSSA 7U tournament @ Fort Worth. Our outfield continues to get better with each game and the hard work is really showing results. Offensive highlights were Cadillac and Freight Train both leaving the yard in a big way and Big Cat having one bounce back off the top of the fence.

5/17/09 - On Sunday, May 10th, Texas Goldrush ballplayer Bryce Stewart and his grandfather died in a tragic accident. The Dallas Knights family would like to express our deepest sympathies to Bryce's family and the Texas Goldrush team. To honor this young man's memory our players will wear on their helmets a gold #3 representing Bryce's uniform number.

5/19/09 - The Dallas Knights have taken trips this season to watch the Texas Longhorns play in Austin and to watch the TCU Horned Frogs play in Fort Worth. After each of those games we were fortunate to have Knights alumni from those teams meet & greet with our players. We would like to congratulate each of those young men and their teammates for recently winning their respective 2009 conference titles.

Congratulations to Cameron Rupp, Staton Thomas, Brandon Workman and the Texas Longhorns for being crowned the Big XII Conference Champions and to Bryan Holiday and the TCU Horned Frogs for winning their fourth consecutive Mountain West Conference Championship.

Congratulations to alumni Joe Leftridge and Nick Popescu as Howard College set a collegiate baseball record in winning 57 straight before their first loss in the NJCAA Division I Regional. After falling to Temple Junior College the Hawks recovered to win the championship game and advance to the NJCAA World Series with a record of 58-1.

5/10/09 - Fantastic comeback in the championship game this afternoon for the Dallas Knights to go 5-0 in winning their first tournament of 2009. Down 12-2 in the bottom of the third, the Knights staged a furious rally with three straight 7-run innings to defeat the Dallas Cubs 23-16. Way to go CHAMPS!

4/27/09 - Fantastic weekend in Austin....hope everyone had a memorable experience. A special thanks to Knights alumni & current Texas Longhorns Cameron Rupp, Staton Thomas and Brandon Workman for taking the time to meet with the Knights players after Saturday's game. Pictures will be posted soon.....

4/24/09 - The Dallas Knights will make a road trip to Austin this weekend to cheer on the #4 Texas Longhorns as they host the Kansas State Wildcats in Big XII baseball action. Be sure to wear your burnt orange and don't forget the camera & autograph pen. Hook 'em Horns!!!

4/18/09 - Good showing today at Big League Dreams in Mansfield as the Knights won both pool games (16-3 & 14-0) to earn the #2 seed out of 13 teams heading into bracket play on Sunday.

4/09/09 - Former Dallas Knight Yovani Gallardo earned the Milwaukee Brewers first win of the season last night in a 4-2 win over the SF Giants at AT&T Park. Yovani allowed two runs on six hits while striking out six but it was his bat that made the difference as he blasted a three-run homer in the 5th off of Giants hurler Randy Johnson....the first homerun Johnson has allowed to a pitcher in his 22-year career. A very nice return for the Knights' 2002 Mickey Mantle World Series MVP after not pitching for Milwaukee since September of 2007 due to an ACL injury.

Another former player made his 2009 debut today as Clayton Kershaw (5-5, 4.26 ERA in 2008) toed the rubber for the Los Angeles Dodgers in a day game against the San Diego Padres. Clayton pitched five innings, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out six but the bullpen couldn't hold his 3-1 lead as they ended up losing 4-3. Kershaw singled and scored the Dodgers first run in the second inning.
